Connect Everything to Flow Launcher File Search

File search · Published October 30, 2026 · Publisher: flowlauncher.app

At a glance

Everything can serve as a file-search engine inside Flow Launcher’s Explorer plugin. First verify that the same filename is found in Everything itself, then configure Flow to use that installation. This isolates indexing failures from connection or plugin-setting failures.

Steps to follow

  1. Open Everything directly and search for a known local filename. Resolve a missing index or inaccessible folder there before changing Flow.
  2. In Flow Settings, open Explorer and select Everything for the search function you need. Filename and content search are separate selections.
  3. Check the Everything executable path if it is installed in a nonstandard directory. Use the supported stable branch unless the project documents otherwise.
  4. Run the identical filename query in Flow and inspect the resulting path. Review full-path search and sorting only after the basic connection works.

Check the result

Both applications find the same test file. A file absent from Everything’s own results cannot be fixed just by increasing its priority in Flow.

Limits and common pitfalls

The Explorer documentation distinguishes the stable Everything branch from 1.5 alpha. Do not assume an alpha instance or custom instance name is interchangeable with the documented configuration.

Make the check repeatable

A practical diagnostic table has three rows: direct Everything search, Flow Explorer search, and opening the returned file. If the first succeeds but the second fails, inspect integration settings. If both succeed but opening fails, investigate the path, permissions, or associated application instead.

Questions and answers

Do I need a separate Everything plugin in Flow?

The project documentation describes Everything functionality integrated into Explorer. Check current Explorer settings before installing another extension.
