Use Flow Launcher Result Context Menus

File search · Published October 30, 2026 · Publisher: flowlauncher.app

At a glance

A Flow Launcher result can have additional actions in its context menu. The available actions depend on the plugin that produced the result. Use right-click or the right-arrow key to inspect them rather than assuming the main Enter action is the only available operation.

Steps to follow

  1. Select a known application result and open its context menu with the right-arrow key or mouse.
  2. Read the action labels before activating one. Opening a file, copying its location, and running an app with elevated permissions are different actions.
  3. Repeat with an Explorer folder result to see plugin-specific actions such as Quick Access or editor integration when configured.
  4. Return to the main result list and compare its normal Enter behavior with the selected context-menu action.

Check the result

The chosen action operates on the expected result and path. Use a harmless file or folder for the first test.

Limits and common pitfalls

Administrator actions can affect more than the launcher. Do not make elevated execution your default just because an action is available.

Make the check repeatable

When documenting a problem, name the plugin, result, and action rather than reporting only that Enter failed. Release 2.1.4 includes fixes for home-page context menus, so checking the version is useful when actions shown for recent results differ from freshly searched results.

Questions and answers

Why do different results show different menu items?

Each plugin supplies its own result actions. An option available for a folder may not exist for a bookmark or calculator result.
