Verify a Flow Launcher Download Before Running It
Check the origin, release version, and file identity before running a Flow Launcher installer. A SHA-256 value identifies bytes but proves nothing unless compared with a trusted reference for the same asset. An antivirus result or familiar logo is not a complete authenticity check.
Steps to follow
- Inspect the final downloaded filename and the address from which it arrived. Compare them with the project release assets rather than relying on the page title.
- Use PowerShell Get-FileHash to calculate SHA-256 for the local file. Compare only with a hash published for that exact file and release, when available.
- Inspect the file’s Digital Signatures tab or Get-AuthenticodeSignature. A missing or invalid signature requires investigation; do not reinterpret a source-code commit signature as an installer signature.
- Scan the file using your normal security tools. If its origin, name, or contents are unexpected, stop and investigate before execution.

You can explain where the file came from, which release it represents, and what any hash comparison actually established. No Windows executable is bundled with this website.
Limits and common pitfalls
This site uses a supplied FileDrop handler for its Download buttons. The handler’s final delivered file has not been validated here, so the reference release information is not a guarantee about that transfer.
Make the check repeatable
Keep verification results with the download: full source URL, retrieval date, filename, and hash. If a browser warning appears, do not work around it blindly. A warning may have several causes, and this guide does not certify an arbitrary download as safe or instruct you to disable protection.
Questions and answers
Is a hash generated on my own PC proof that a file is safe?
No. It is a fingerprint of that file. A meaningful authenticity check requires a trustworthy expected value and an appropriate source.
